Attorneys for Sean Diddy Combs have notified a US federal court of their plans to appeal the rap mogul's conviction and 50-month prison sentence.

They filed a notice of appeal on Monday and are expected to submit the formal documents soon.

Combs was convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted on two other charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.

Judge Arun Subramanian stated that a substantial sentence was necessary to ensure that those who abuse women face true accountability.

Combs also received a $500,000 (£374,000) fine and was sentenced to five years of probation.

Combs initially requested a 14-month sentence, benefiting from time served during his pre-trial incarceration, while prosecutors sought a sentence exceeding 11 years.

During his sentencing in September, Combs described his actions as disgusting, shameful, and sick, expressing remorse for his behaviour.

He highlighted that he had got lost in excess and requested mercy from the judge while apologizing to two women who testified against him.

His legal representatives have indicated intentions to contest both the conviction and the imposed sentence.

Combs was arrested in September 2024, and his trial over the summer received widespread media coverage.

Prosecutors accused him of exploiting his influential position in the music industry to orchestrate a sex trafficking operation, reportedly coercing his girlfriends into engaging in so-called freak-offs with male escorts.

A key aspect of the case involved singer Cassandra Ventura, who accused Combs of physical abuse and pressure to participate in hotel nights with escorts.

Another woman, testifying under the pseudonym Jane, revealed she felt compelled to participate in similar engagements even when unwell.

While the jury found Combs not guilty of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, they did convict him of two counts pertaining to transportation for prostitution.
