Three people have been killed and at least 32 others injured in an overnight Russian air attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv, the city's mayor has confirmed.
According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, two high-rise residential buildings were struck during the bombardment, which took place in the Desnianskyi district. Among the injured are six children.
The Russian assault comes as Moscow has intensified its attacks on civilian locations and energy infrastructure, with Ukrainian authorities reporting the launch of nearly 1,200 drones in just the past week.
In the attack on Kyiv, three individuals lost their lives when a drone hit a nine-storey residential building. The aftermath revealed significant damage to multiple residential structures, prompting medical attention for seven individuals, including two minors.
Since Russia's full-scale invasion began in 2022, the country has gained control of approximately one-fifth of Ukrainian territory and continues to launch strikes with little regard for civilian safety.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has appealed to allies for long-range weaponry to fortify Ukraine's defensive capabilities. However, recent diplomatic engagements, including talks at the White House, yielded limited benefits, with leaders expressing frustration over the lack of progress in negotiations.
As tensions rise and a harsh winter approaches, the call for international support intensifies, aiming to protect the lives and homes of the Ukrainian people from the ongoing conflict.
