An Israeli airstrike has struck Sanaa International Airport, Yemen’s capital, according to confirmation from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). This assault comes on the heels of the IDF's warning earlier in the day that all individuals should evacuate the airport area due to an imminent threat. The strike was part of a series of operations against Houthi positions, which followed a missile launched by the Iranian-backed group that landed dangerously close to Israel's main airport, Ben Gurion, just the previous day.
In its ongoing campaign against the Houthis, Israel has targeted various locations over the past months, including key infrastructure like power plants and ports. Notably, the IDF conducted multiple airstrikes on Houthi targets in Hudaydah, claiming that the port serves as a "central supply source" for the Houthis, enabling the transfer of Iranian weapons. In addition, they asserted that the Bajil cement factory nearby supports the construction of military tunnels.
The Houthis countered the intensity of the attacks by claiming the U.S. and Israel were jointly responsible, though U.S. military officials stated their forces had no involvement.
