Unreleased tracks and sensitive tour materials belonging to Beyoncé stolen from a rental vehicle in Atlanta.
In a startling turn of events, several unreleased tracks and important documents related to Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour were stolen from a vehicle in Atlanta just a couple of days before her highly anticipated performances. According to authorities, the theft occurred on July 8, just two days prior to the singer's first show in the city.
The stolen items included hard drives containing unreleased music, detailed show plans, and past and future set lists, all of which were in a rental car used by one of Beyoncé's choreographers and a dancer. The Atlanta police reported that an arrest warrant has been issued, yet the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed.
Choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue parked their rented Black Jeep Wagoneer to grab a bite at a nearby food hall. Upon returning, they found the rear window smashed and two suitcases missing. The duo informed officers that they were carrying "some personal sensitive information for the musician Beyoncé," which included "five jump drives containing watermarked music, unreleased music, footage plans for shows past and future, and set lists."
Additional stolen items included a laptop, designer clothing, and Apple AirPods. Authorities are actively working on the case, utilizing tracking data from the stolen laptop and headphones to trace the whereabouts of the missing items. Investigators also dusted the vehicle for fingerprints and reportedly found "two very light prints," which could potentially lead to the thief.
As of now, it remains unclear if the stolen materials have been recovered. The BBC has reached out to a representative for Beyoncé for further comment. Beyoncé has been performing in Atlanta since July 10, with her last show scheduled for Monday night. Her husband, rapper Jay Z, made a surprise appearance during the third night of her performances.
With a storied career that includes collaborations with well-known artists such as Shakira, choreographer Grant has made a significant mark in the music industry, while dancer Blue was seen alongside Beyoncé in a 2024 Super Bowl advertisement, shortly after the release of her Cowboy Carter album. The investigation continues as fans and authorities hope for a swift resolution.
