Vodka Mix-Up: Celsius Energy Drink Cans Accidentally Filled With Alcohol

USFDA issues recall for Celsius cans mistakenly filled with vodka due to packaging error.

The US Food & Drug Administration has alerted consumers to check their Celsius energy drink cans after revelations that some were incorrectly filled with vodka. The recall affects specific lots of the Astro Vibe Blue Razz edition.

In a startling case of packaging error, the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) has issued a warning regarding Celsius energy drinks after some cans of the Astro Vibe Blue Razz flavor were accidentally filled with vodka. The unexpected situation arose when a supplier mishandled the distribution, sending empty Celsius cans to the vodka seltzer brand High Noon, which then filled the cans with alcohol instead of energy drink.

The USFDA's recall notice affects two production lots of the Celsius cans, and the agency has urged consumers, particularly those who purchased the beverages in states including Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin between July 21 and July 23, to check for affected product codes. The mix-up also led to a recall of certain Beach Variety packs from High Noon that were produced on the same line.

The specific identifiers for the recalled products include the Celsius retail code UPC 8 89392 00134 1, along with the impacted lot codes ranging from L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to L CCB 02JL25 3:11. For High Noon packs, consumers should look for the code UPC 085000040065 and lot codes from L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to L CCC 17JL25 23:59 and L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to L CCC 18JL25 03:00.

The USFDA has advised customers to safely dispose of the affected Celsius cans and refrain from consuming the potentially hazardous liquid. Fortunately, the agency confirmed that other High Noon varieties are not involved in this recall and remain safe for consumption. No illnesses or adverse reactions linked to these products have been reported thus far.
