"Florida Woman Arrested for Impersonating Nurse, Treating Thousands"
A 29-year-old woman is accused of posing as a registered nurse, treating over 4,000 patients while deceiving hospital staff and authorities.
A woman in Florida has been arrested on charges of impersonating a registered nurse, following an investigation that uncovered her treatment of over 4,000 patients. Autumn Bardisa, 29, was employed by AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway from July 2023 until January 2025, when concerns regarding her qualifications led to her contract being terminated.
Authorities launched a criminal investigation after it was discovered that Bardisa had submitted false documentation, including a license number that belonged to another nurse with her first name but employed at a different facility. When questioned about the discrepancies, Bardisa claimed that a recent marriage had prompted her name change but failed to produce the requisite marriage license when requested.
Despite a promotion offered to her, red flags about her expired nursing assistant license led a concerned colleague to report her to the authorities. Following this tip, a prolonged investigation ensued, resulting in arrest warrants for seven counts of practicing without a license and seven counts of fraudulent identification use. Bardisa was apprehended on August 5, while still in scrubs at her residence.
Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly voiced his concerns, stating, "This woman potentially put thousands of lives at risk," highlighting the severity of her actions against the medical community and the trust of the patients she treated. To assist in the investigation, the Sheriff's Office has established a dedicated email for any individuals suspecting they may have been treated by Bardisa. She is currently in custody at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, facing a bond of $70,000.
