BTS Members RM and V Complete Military Service, Fans Anticipate Reunion
Fans celebrate as BTS members RM and V return from military duty, sparking excitement for the group's anticipated comeback.
In a highly anticipated return, two members of the sensational K-pop group BTS have successfully completed their mandatory military service, creating a buzz among their passionate fan base. RM and V were discharged on Tuesday and welcomed home by hundreds of fans who flocked to the Hybe headquarters in Seoul, many traveling from abroad for the joyous occasion.
During their welcome, RM greeted the crowd with a salute while V showcased musical talent with a saxophone performance. V also urged fans to “wait just a little longer” for the remaining members, as all seven are expected to complete their service within the month.
The atmosphere was electric, with many fans wearing purple – BTS’s signature color – and holding banners adorning photos of their beloved idols. While South Korea mandates approximately two years of military service for able-bodied men aged 18 to 28, fans expressed joy in finally being reunited with the stars after their hiatus, which started in 2022 at the peak of their success.
Hybe, the agency that represents BTS, erected a celebratory banner declaring “We are back,” signifying the band's imminent return. One dedicated fan, Janya from the UK, expressed her emotions, saying, “It’s been a long, long time without you. I’m so glad you’re back and finally free to do whatever you want to do.” Another fan, Ivory from Australia, shared her relief, calling it an incredible moment to finally witness the idols in person.
RM expressed gratitude towards fans during their discharge in Chuncheon, thankful for their unwavering support while V remarked that his military tenure allowed him a chance to "reset both physically and mentally." They both conveyed eagerness to return to their music and the fans they've missed dearly.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has redefined K-pop globally with their unique blend of pop, hip-hop, and R&B. Achieving milestone after milestone, they have accumulated numerous awards, topped charts, and advocated for pressing social issues, including their collaboration with Unicef on mental health initiatives. Following the enlistment of the oldest member, Jin, in 2022, the rest of the group followed suit to serve, with an anticipated reunion on the horizon as fans eagerly await their next steps.
