Revealing the Truth Behind Trump's Middle East Adviser
Massad Boulos is presented as a billionaire mogul but his actual business history tells a different story.
President-elect Donald Trump's choice for Middle East adviser, Massad Boulos, has been cloaked in a narrative of wealth and influence. Boulos, who is also the father-in-law of Trump's daughter Tiffany, has been applauded as a billionaire and a renowned dealmaker. In interactions with the media, he previously mentioned that his business holds a valuation in the billions. Trump even described him as a “highly respected leader” boasting vast international experience.
However, an examination of public records and corporate filings paints a starkly different picture. According to these sources, Boulos has spent over twenty years selling trucks and heavy equipment through a company controlled by his father-in-law in Nigeria. Last year, the company, SCOA Nigeria PLC, reported a profit of just under $66,000, far from the billionaire status suggested in various media portrayals.
Additionally, Boulos’s personal financial holdings appear modest. The truck dealership linked to his operations has an estimated value of around $865,000, and his shares are reported to be worth only $1.53. Boulos Enterprises, often mistakenly attributed to him as a family business, is actually owned by an unrelated branch of the Boulos family.
Despite the lack of substantial credentials, Boulos is set to provide counsel on one of the world's most volatile regions, stating that he has not visited the area in recent years. The nature of his advisory role means it does not require Senate confirmation, allowing Trump to appoint him without further oversight or public evaluation.
