Chinese Student Convicted of Drugging and Raping Women Faces Sentencing in London

A Chinese student, Zou Zhenhao, aged 28, has been convicted of a series of harrowing crimes, including drugging and raping at least 10 women in London and his native China. As he awaits sentencing, this case has unveiled what investigators are calling "one of the most prolific predators” they have encountered in recent years.

Zou's crimes spanned a period from September 2019 to May 2023, during which he not only targeted women within the student community but also lured additional victims through social media and dating platforms. While the police have confirmed 10 convictions, they also hold compelling evidence suggesting there could be as many as 50 more potential victims. These were identified from disturbing videos Zou recorded, often using hidden cameras installed in his residences.

Authorities have expressed deep concerns over the long-lasting impacts of Zou's actions; due to the nature of the drugs he administered to his victims, many may remain unaware of the assaults committed against them. Kevin Southworth, a senior officer in the Metropolitan Police overseeing this case, highlighted the grim reality that numerous women captured in Zou’s footage may never be located or identified.

Since Zou's conviction, the Metropolitan Police have actively encouraged other potential victims to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation, emphasizing the importance of ending the silence surrounding such heinous acts of violence and manipulation.
