On Friday, Bambas was presented with a colossal check for $1.7 million, following a remarkable fundraising campaign led by 22-year-old Sam Weidenhofer from Australia. This fundraising initiative has touched the hearts of many, each contributing to support the aging veteran.

With tears of gratitude, Bambas expressed his disbelief: Oh my God, thank you!

The two met at a Meijer store in Brighton, Michigan, two weeks earlier, where Weidenhofer recorded a video for his 7.7 million TikTok followers, capturing Bambas's resilient spirit as he discussed why he continued working at nearly 90, a necessity highlighted since the passing of his wife, Joan, in 2018 due to a chronic illness.

Weidenhofer, using his platform for good, launched a GoFundMe campaign urging others to contribute to Bambas's cause. Now, with the financial support, Bambas plans to pay off $225,000 in debt and aspires to visit his brother and return to golfing. However, he is not quite ready to say goodbye to work and might continue for another month or two.
