Heathrow Airport Suspends Flights Following Substation Fire Incident

Heathrow Airport experienced significant operational challenges on Friday as a fire at a nearby electricity substation led to a total power outage.

The closure was announced early Friday morning, with officials indicating that the airport would remain shut until 11:59 p.m. local time, though the extent of flight cancellations and delays has yet to be fully determined. Firefighters faced a challenging situation as they responded to the blaze at the substation located in Hayes, western London, which has also resulted in power outages for numerous homes and businesses in the vicinity, as reported by the London Fire Brigade. Approximately 150 individuals were evacuated from the area to ensure their safety, with an urgent call from fire officials for people to steer clear of the affected zone as they worked to contain the fire.
