Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan Recovering After Knife Attack

The actor’s condition is stable following surgery, and police have detained a suspect involved in the attack that initially appeared to be a robbery.

Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is currently recovering in a Mumbai hospital after undergoing surgery for stab wounds sustained during an altercation at his home. Reports indicate that a man has been detained by police in connection with the incident that occurred early Thursday morning.

According to eyewitness statements, including that of a nurse employed at Khan's residence, the actor was attacked by an intruder armed with a knife during a struggle that began when the attacker reportedly demanded ransom. The nurse, Eliyama Philip, described seeing a shadow near the bathroom before the intruder confronted them with a knife and object. As chaos ensued, Khan and his wife, actress Kareena Kapoor, intervened, leading to the actor being attacked as he confronted the suspect.

Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital where doctors treated multiple injuries, including a serious stab wound to his neck, where a fragment of the knife was lodged. Dr. Nitin Dange, leading his treatment, confirmed that timely medical intervention prevented any severe spinal injury and that Khan has shown significant improvement since then, even managing to walk shortly after the surgery.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing as police review security footage from Khan's home in the upscale Bandra neighborhood. Authorities confirmed that the suspect had used a fire escape ladder to enter the premises, and they are trying to ascertain how the assailant gained entry.

Meanwhile, the 54-year-old Khan, known for his noteworthy roles in Indian cinema and recipient of prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri, has garnered admiration over the years for his contributions to the film industry. As his family and fans await further updates, police continue to search for the weapon used in the attack and piece together the events leading up to it.
