Chris Brown Faces Arrest Over Nightclub Incident in London
High-profile singer detained for alleged assault involving a bottle
R&B singer Chris Brown has been arrested in Manchester, UK, in connection with an alleged bottle attack that occurred at the Tape nightclub in Mayfair on February 19, 2023. The arrest took place early Thursday morning at a hotel, where Brown was apprehended on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw. The Metropolitan Police were alerted to Brown's presence in the UK thanks to a tip-off from The Sun, which reported that the singer had arrived via private jet.
According to a police spokesperson, a 36-year-old man—believed to be Brown—was taken into custody shortly after 2:00 AM. The investigation is being led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit. Representatives for Brown have yet to comment on the incident.
Mr. Diaw has alleged that Brown struck him on the head with a bottle before physically assaulting him while he lay on the ground. He reported sustaining injuries that required hospitalization and left him needing crutches upon discharge. Known for hits like "Ayo," "Beautiful People," and "No Air," Brown is currently on tour, with several scheduled performances across the UK in June and July.
