Recent satellite images reviewed by BBC Verify indicate that Israel has pushed its designated Yellow Line deeper into Gaza, generating confusion and increased tensions for local residents. The Yellow Line, marked by concrete blocks, was supposed to delineate areas based on a US-brokered ceasefire deal with Hamas that required Israeli troops to withdraw behind this line.

Despite warnings from Israeli officials about strict penalties for those crossing this line, instances of violence and fatalities have escalated in areas like Beit Lahia, Jabalia, and al-Tuffah since these adjustments were made. Reports show that blocks were moved significantly, averaging about 295 meters deeper into Gaza than previously established, leading to fear among the population about their safety and security.

With the ongoing military operations and shifting boundaries, thousands of civilians find themselves trapped within these newly defined and often ambiguous borders. Experts are examining this tactic closely, noting it seems designed to exert control over the land by maintaining a gap between the legal and physical demarcations of territory.
