She had been battling anemia and weight loss following an attack by other eagles. The center reported that her condition deteriorated despite intensive treatment. Her livestream, which had hundreds of thousands of subscribers, captured the public’s affection for her and her mate Shadow. Officials said the remains are now with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

An Ojai Raptor statement said, "Over the past several days, her condition continued to deteriorate despite intensive treatment and the combined efforts of our veterinary team and consulting specialists."

A livestream that tracked Jackie and her mate Shadow drew hundreds of thousands of subscribers worldwide, turning her into a symbol of natural resilience for fans and caretakers alike.

The Big Bear Eagle Nest Cam, run by Friends of Big Bear Valley, had chronicled Jackie’s life since she hatched in spring 2012, and the two have been mates since 2018.

The Ojai Raptor Center announced, "Our team is heartbroken. It has been an extraordinary privilege to care for her," and expressed gratitude for the prayers and support of global followers.

They are working with both the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to provide a more detailed statement including treatment outcomes and test results.

Jackie’s remains have been transferred to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for proper handling.
