In a shocking incident in Mississippi, 24-year-old Daricka M. Moore is charged with murdering six individuals, including his father, brother, and a young cousin. After a violent spree across multiple locations, he was apprehended by law enforcement. WEST POINT, Miss. — A 24-year-old Mississippi man, Daricka M. Moore, has been arrested following a shooting spree that resulted in the deaths of six people, including his father, brother, uncle, a seven-year-old cousin, a church pastor, and the pastor’s brother. The violent events unfolded at three locations across a rural area on a Friday night.

Moore was taken into custody at a police roadblock in Cedarbluff shortly before midnight, as law enforcement officials from local, state, and federal agencies converged on the area. He is currently being held without bail at the Clay County Jail on multiple murder charges, with an initial court appearance anticipated on Monday.

District Attorney Scott Colom expressed his intent to pursue the death penalty against Moore, indicating that a public defender will likely be appointed during the upcoming court proceedings. Under state law, should charges be elevated to capital murder, Moore would be ineligible for bail.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott confirmed that evidence points to Moore being the sole shooter, with no other reported injuries. Authorities are still investigating potential motives behind this horrific act.

The shootings are said to have commenced at Moore's family mobile home, claiming the lives of his father, Glenn Moore, 67, his brother, Quinton Moore, 33, and uncle Willie Ed Guines, 55. Afterward, Moore allegedly stole a vehicle and proceeded to a cousin’s residence, where he attempted a violent act against a young girl, ultimately resulting in her fatal shooting.

Moore then allegedly drove to a church, where he broke in and killed the pastor, Rev. Barry Bradley, and his brother, Samuel Bradley. Their connection to the Moore family adds a painful layer to this tragedy.

Authorities apprehended Moore four and a half hours after the first reports of gunfire, armed with both a rifle and a handgun, the origins of which are still under review. Colom emphasized the gravity of the situation, noting the multifaceted violence across separate scenes makes it an exceptionally dire case.

The local community is grappling with profound grief as families attempt to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. Colom asserted that his office is prepared for a robust prosecution amid the ongoing investigation.
