A mass shooting in the U.S. state of Mississippi has resulted in the loss of four lives and left 12 others injured, four of them critically. The tragic incident unfolded around midnight on the main street of Leland, located approximately 120 miles northeast of Jackson, Mississippi’s capital.

Leland's Mayor, John Lee, confirmed to CBS News that four of the injured have been airlifted to a hospital, and at the moment, there are no suspects in custody.

The shooting took place just after a local high school football game, an event often marked by homecoming festivities that attract community members, including former students returning to celebrate school spirit. This year, Leland was busier than usual due to these homecoming celebrations.
