Polish police and ambulance near school

A 21‑year‑old woman was apprehended after a knife attack at a Warsaw school left three people injured.

The attacker used a dangerous object and struck a 17‑year‑old girl, who was taken to hospital with non‑life‑threatening injuries.

Two other women, aged 17 and 24, were also injured when the attacker entered the school to submit enrolment documents.

Police say the suspect is a student at the school and has no prior connection to the victims.

The incident occurs a day after thousands of police visited schools nationwide following two earlier stabbings that killed a caretaker and injured nine people at a vocational school.

Authorities are investigating whether the attacks stem from an internet challenge.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk has stated that there is no room for compromise on the safety of children and peace in schools.
