Hamas says it has received some ideas from the US through mediators on how to reach a Gaza ceasefire agreement.

The Palestinian armed group indicated that it was discussing how to shape these ideas, expressing readiness to release its 48 remaining hostages in Gaza in exchange for a clear declaration ending the war.

A Palestinian official confirmed to the BBC that under the US plan, hostages would be freed within the first 48 hours of a proposed 60-day truce, alongside negotiations for the release of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

This development follows US President Donald Trump's 'last warning' to Hamas, asserting that Israel has accepted his conditions without disclosing further details.

Israel's Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar, confirmed the country's willingness to agree on a deal that involves the release of all hostages and disarmament of Hamas. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Palestinians in the war-torn Gaza City to evacuate promptly due to intensifying military actions.

Hamas announced its intention to negotiate the release of hostages taken during its attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in exchange for a definitive ceasefire and the establishment of a Palestinian administration in Gaza.

The US proposal also reportedly includes personal guarantees from President Trump for good-faith negotiations towards a permanent peace agreement.

As military operations escalate, Israel has intensified airstrikes in Gaza City, with multiple buildings destroyed and an increasing number of civilian casualties reported.

UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warns of a rapidly closing window to prevent famine in Gaza City, emphasizing the urgent need for humanitarian assistance, protection of civilians, and a ceasefire.

The conflict has reportedly resulted in significant casualties on both sides, with casualty counts rising as Israel continues its military campaign in response to the initial attacks led by Hamas.
