Outrage in Italy Over Trump Jr.'s Alleged Hunting of Protected Duck
Donald Trump Jr. faces backlash in Italy after a video allegedly shows him hunting a rare duck in Venice’s lagoon.
In a situation that has ignited fierce debate in Italy, Donald Trump Jr. is finding himself in hot water over hunting allegations. A video surfaced, purportedly showing him in hunting gear sitting beside the body of a dead duck in the lagoon of Venice. The incident has caught the attention of Italian lawmakers, who are demanding answers and labeling the act as a crime.
Luana Zanella, a member of Italy’s parliament, expressed her disgust regarding the incident, stating, “It is morally despicable. And it’s a crime.” The clip in question, shared with major news outlets, shows Trump Jr. concealed in grass, surrounded by deceased ducks, while a soundtrack reminiscent of action movies plays in the background. In the video, he comments on the ducks he has hunted, one of which he identifies as an unfamiliar species.
Environmental activists have mobilized since the video became public, criticizing the act as detrimental to wildlife conservation. Andrea Zanoni, a regional lawmaker from the Veneto region, specifically identified the hunted bird as a ruddy shelduck, which is classified as a protected species in Italy. He stressed, “And you cannot hunt it,” emphasizing the legal ramifications of such actions.
The uproar highlights not only Trump's controversial hunting trip but also raises broader concerns about wildlife preservation in the lagoon, urging authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hunting expedition and to hold those responsible accountable.
