The company admitted that the error originated from a faulty currency conversion process, which accidentally led to many players being informed of “erroneously high prizes” in Norwegian kroner. This revelation came just before the departure of Tonje Sagstuen, the former CEO, who expressed her regret for instilling “false hopes” among the players.

In a statement released on Monday, Norsk Tipping acknowledged that the error was identified soon after the notifications were sent, yet the emotional impact on the players had already occurred.
