A 57-year-old man, Vance Luther Boelter, has been arrested in Minnesota following the alleged shooting deaths of Democratic lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. The arrest on Sunday marked the end of a massive two-day manhunt, characterized by extensive police efforts and the deployment of air and SWAT teams, described as the largest of its kind in the state’s history.

State Governor Tim Walz condemned the incident as a "politically motivated assassination." Police confirmed that Boelter was armed at the time of his arrest but surrendered without incident. He is also believed to be responsible for shooting and injuring Democratic State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who are currently recovering in the hospital. Yvette expressed their gratitude, stating they felt "incredibly lucky to be alive."

Boelter was apprehended after authorities linked him to a vehicle discovered in Sibley County, approximately 50 miles away from the site of the shootings in Brooklyn Park. Minnesota law enforcement faced no injuries during the operation and confirmed that no other suspects are being sought.

Investigators located a list featuring potential "targets" when they searched Boelter's vehicle, although they refrained from labeling the document as a "manifesto." Reports indicate that high-profile individuals, including Governor Walz and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, were named on the list. Authorities have since reached out to multiple states to ensure the safety of those involved.
