Ariana Grande Demands White House Stop Using Her Song in Immigration Promo
Pop star Ariana Grande has asked the White House to remove her music from a TikTok reel that was used to highlight immigration policies. The clip, posted on Monday, featured her 2024 hit "Bye" as the soundtrack while showing border agents handcuffing migrants and loading them into vehicles.
Grande’s comment in response was "Please do not use my music in relation to this barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense." She added later that the use of her track was in direct opposition to her beliefs about humane treatment of migrants.
White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson replied to the post, noting that the essence of the clip was a dramatized depiction of immigration enforcement, and that she understood the concerns about the narrative presented.
The video was muted and Grande’s comment removed after her public reply. Users commented that the sound had been silenced, suggesting a disconnect between the administration’s intention and the original message.
This incident joins a growing list of musicians who have petitioned President Trump’s team to refrain from using their songs in political or policy‑related content. Notably, Sabrina Carpenter and other major artists have previously protested the appropriation of their music for immigration enforcement imagery or campaign rallies.
The video comes in the wake of President Trump signing a bill that authorizes over $70 billion of funding for immigration-related agencies, a capital that the White House is using to strengthen border enforcement capabilities.
