Australian Greens Senator Jordon Steele‑John Denies Misconduct Report

Australian Greens Senator Jordon Steele‑John has denied a series of misconduct allegations that surfaced last week.

The senator, who has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair, said the claims are politically motivated after former and current party members sent a letter alleging inappropriate behaviour between 2017 and 2025.

He claimed the police investigation of a sexual‑assault complaint ended with no charges and that he was not on leave from the party room, despite the Greens’ leader David Shoebridge having suspended him pending internal inquiry.

In a response, Steele‑John described the nickname "Feels on wheels" as growing from his advocacy for disability rights and warned that a document the party had prepared to limit media coverage could affect future reporting on the cases.

He pledged to "rebuild public trust" through transparency and accountability while the party investigates the allegations. David Shoebridge’s office confirmed the matter was forwarded to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Commission.
