Authorities in Los Angeles deployed tear gas near a federal detention center and arrested dozens following one of many 'No Kings' rallies held across the United States and Europe this weekend, protesting against President Donald Trump's administration and the ongoing conflict in Iran.

According to the Los Angeles police, 74 protesters were arrested for ignoring a dispersal order given after the rally concluded. One individual was also arrested on suspicion of possessing a weapon.

While most protests remained peaceful, the Los Angeles event became chaotic when some participants began throwing rocks and concrete at officers, prompting a reaction from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Notably, two officers suffered injuries requiring medical attention due to the violent incidents.

Andre Andrews Jr., an independent journalist and Navy veteran, documented the events, stating that after the dispersal order, the police used tear gas leading some demonstrators to retaliate by throwing canisters back at them. His observations highlighted a mix of peaceful protest and disruptive elements within the gathering.

Authorities noted that among those arrested were eight juveniles and a woman dressed as the Statue of Liberty.

In other cities, such as Denver, police declared unlawful assemblies as a precaution and made additional arrests amid small-scale disruptions. Nationwide, rallies occurred from major cities like New York to smaller communities, with diverse participants rallying against Trump's policies.

Ezra Levin, co-executive director of Indivisible, reported that these rallies attracted estimations of over 8 million attendees, marking a significant expression of dissent against the administration's approach to immigration and other policies. Events included notable speakers and performers, amplifying the movement's grassroots nature.

Overall, while the Los Angeles clash raised concerns, many participants viewed the overall turnout as a powerful and historic display of collective resistance, emphasizing their commitment to peaceful assembly and advocacy.
