HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — The rapper Offset, a former member of the influential hip-hop trio Migos, was shot Monday outside a Florida casino and is in stable condition, according to a spokesperson.

Offset was being treated at a hospital, as confirmed by a spokesperson, although his exact condition remains unclear. More than three years ago, Offset's cousin Takeoff, another member of Migos, tragically lost his life in a shooting incident over a dice game.

The Seminole Police Department in Florida reported that one person sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting at the valet area outside the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, but did not identify the victim. Two individuals have been detained for questioning as officials continue to investigate the shooting. “The site is secure and there is no threat to the public,” the police stated.

Offset, who goes by his real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was part of Migos, a Grammy Award-nominated group known for their rapid-fire triplet flow and major hits, including the 2013 breakout song “Versace.” The group received Grammy nominations for their 2018 album “Culture.”

In 2017, Offset secretly married fellow rapper Cardi B. The couple announced their divorce in 2024, although they share three children.

The recent incident involving Offset raises concerns around gun violence, a critical issue that has affected the hip-hop community significantly. Quavo, the third member of Migos, is working to transform the tragedy of Takeoff's death into a movement for change, holding a summit against gun violence in 2024. Takeoff's death was noted as part of a worrying trend involving shootings among hip-hop artists, a list that includes Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, PnB Rock, and Young Dolph.
