Prosecutors say a 17‑year‑old from North Carolina was arrested last week and has been indicted by a grand jury for murder by aiding and abetting. The teenager recorded a live‑stream of the May 18 attack on the Islamic Center of San Diego, which killed three people and injured many others.

She also published a manifesto from the two teenage gunmen who carried out the shooting. According to the California District Attorney, the teens planned further hate‑crime incidents, targeting a Jewish temple and an African‑American high school before suicide.

The teens were armed with roughly 30 guns and a crossbow. These weapons were reportedly taken from the parents of one of the attackers. The attackers’ notes cited the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings as a model.

Security guard Amin Abdullah engaged in a gunfight with the attackers and may have stopped the crossfire from reaching approximately 140 children who were inside the building. The San Diego Police Chief described Abdullah’s actions as heroic. He and two worshippers, Mansour Kaziha and Nader Awad, were tragically killed in the incident.

Quote from the District Attorney: "The thought of her going back to school, with the weekend approaching, holy days approaching, we didn’t know what she was capable of." The teenager faces three murder charges and one count of conspiracy under North Carolina law.
