Three Saudi nationals died after Houthi missiles struck Riyadh’s international airport and a Saudia aircraft, the Saudi civil aviation authority said. The attacks also injured several Saudi citizens and residents of other nationalities.
Saudi authorities noted that the first strike targeted the airport itself, while the second hit an aircraft operated by the state carrier. One Saudia pilot was among those killed, the airline confirmed.
Air traffic has recovered to normal levels following the bombardments.
Yemen’s Houthi group claimed it launched two missiles at the airport and also targeted an airport in Najran and Khamis Mushait air base, though Saudi Arabia has not confirmed those attacks.
This incident adds to earlier attacks that killed three people at Abha International Airport and at King Khalid airport over the last week.
The rising violence reflects a flare‑up of fighting in Yemen, where the Houthis control most of the north‑west and have seized strategic Red Sea coastlines. Saudi‑led coalition forces have tried to counter the advances, but recent ceasefire agreements have frayed.
The Houthis say they are striking Saudi targets in response to what they describe as a long‑standing blockade and recent air strikes, while Saudi Arabia continues its military campaign against the insurgents in Yemen.
