The United States has dispatched its top peace broker, former presidential advisor Jared Kushner, and former U.S. investment banker Steve Witkoff, to Kyiv following a three‑hour, closed‑door meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

According to the White House, the envoys discussed “substantive plans for next steps” with Moscow’s leader on Saturday. While the specifics remain unannounced, officials say the talks were “constructive and extremely frank,” with Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov describing the conversation as covering not only war‑resolution but also economic cooperation and large‑scale projects between Russia and the United States.

The discussion took place behind closed doors at Putin’s official residence and was announced by Russian state media as a key step toward ending the war. Ushakov added that the dialogue acknowledged the Russian army’s “tangible advances” but also stressed the need to address the root causes of the conflict.
