Swedish Inquiry Into Alleged Rape Involving Mbappé Concludes Without Charges

The Swedish Prosecution Authority has announced the conclusion of an inquiry into accusations of rape linked to football star Kylian Mbappé. According to Marina Chirakova, who oversaw the preliminary investigation, the case will not proceed as the evidence was deemed inadequate. Despite early suggestions from Swedish media connecting Mbappé to the allegations, the player was never formally named or notified of any suspicion against him.

In October, when the accusations first arose, Mbappé's legal team indicated that he was preparing to defend himself against potential defamation claims, and the footballer himself dismissed the reports as misleading. The initial allegations revolved around an incident said to have occurred in a Stockholm hotel on October 10, coinciding with Mbappé's visit. Several media outlets had publicly identified the footballer as a suspect, prompting police inquiries at the hotel.

Despite the surrounding speculation, Mbappé has asserted his non-involvement in the affair during an appearance on the French television show Clique, stating that he had not received any legal summons. His lawyer has previously criticized the media claims as defamatory, asserting that Mbappé's lifestyle minimizes risks for such situations. Having recently scored his 50th Champions League goal as a Real Madrid player, Mbappé continues to focus on his sporting achievements since transferring from Paris Saint-Germain, where he formed a renowned trio with Lionel Messi and Neymar.
