In a display of corporate backing for political events, aviation giant Boeing and tech behemoth Google have each committed $1 million to the inauguration fund for President-elect Donald Trump, set for January 20. Both companies are part of a growing list of American enterprises, including Chevron, Meta, Amazon, and Uber, contributing to the fund.
Boeing, which has historically supported U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committees, expressed its satisfaction with maintaining this bipartisan tradition. In recent years, the company has faced challenges related to safety and quality standards, as well as repercussions from a significant labor strike. Notably, Boeing is in the process of creating the next presidential aircraft, dubbed Air Force One, expected to enter service next year.
Meanwhile, Google announced its contribution alongside plans to livestream the inauguration event globally via YouTube. Karan Bhatia, Google's global head of government affairs and public policy, emphasized the company's dedication to supporting the milestone occasion by providing a direct link to the event on its homepage.
Additionally, key players in the automotive industry like Ford, General Motors, and Toyota have also each pledged $1 million to the inaugural committee. Chevron, a longstanding supporter of both Republican and Democratic inaugural efforts, has confirmed its donation but has not disclosed the amount. Bill Turene, Chevron's global media relations manager, highlighted the company’s commitment to honoring democratic traditions through its support.
