Ahmed al Ahmed, 44, has pleaded not guilty to assault, stalking and intimidation charges brought against him by his father following the 2023 Bondi Beach shooting. The 15‑victim massacre, which was declared a terrorist incident, saw Ahmed wrestle a gun from one of the attackers and was subsequently shot several times in the arm.

The incident attracted worldwide attention and prompted the launch of a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than A$2.5 million for Mr Al Ahmed. Earlier this month, he was charged with assault and denied the allegations, saying they were untrue.

In a separate development, Mr Al Ahmed’s two brothers have been charged with threatening him and attempting to extort money from the donations. The brothers allegedly demanded $100,000 each and threatened to harm Ahmed if he did not comply.

Mr Al Ahmed walked out of court on Wednesday, refusing to comment when asked if his family’s claims were credible. The case is expected to return to the arena in August, with a final hearing scheduled for December.
