TOLEDO, Ohio (CIVITAS) — During a visit to his home state, Vice President JD Vance criticized the 'far-left' for the turmoil surrounding recent immigration enforcement efforts. Speaking in Toledo, Vance asserted that to reduce chaos, the country must acknowledge the necessity of maintaining a border.

“If you want to turn down the chaos in Minneapolis, stop fighting immigration enforcement and accept that we have to have a border in this country,” he stated during his remarks.

Vance is set to meet with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minnesota, the site of recent protests following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a mother of three, by an ICE agent. Vance has defended the actions of law enforcement in this incident, characterizing Good's death as 'a tragedy of her own making.'

He subsequently praised law enforcement for arresting protesters who disrupted a church service, labeling their actions as a violation of worshipers’ rights. “Just as you have the right to protest, they have a right to worship God as they choose. When you interrupt that, that is a violation of the law,” Vance added.

Vance’s comments form part of a broader strategy to reinforce the administration's immigration stance and support Republican candidates ahead of upcoming midterm elections. He emphasized the importance of steady voter support for economic recovery, indicating that progress takes time and is challenging to achieve quickly. “You don’t turn the Titanic around overnight,” he concluded, urging patience from voters.
