The Florida woman who allegedly shot at the Los Angeles mansion of pop superstar Rihanna has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and more than a dozen related charges.
Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, is accused of trying to kill Rihanna after allegedly firing a semiautomatic rifle at the musician's Beverly Crest mansion at 13:15 local time (21:15 GMT) on 8 March.
Court documents allege Ortiz was trying to shoot Rihanna, rapper A$AP Rocky, their three young children, and others who were in the home and adjacent property. Luckily, no one was injured during the incident.
Ortiz, who could face a life sentence, remains in detention and entered her plea on Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court through her attorney.
She is scheduled to return for a preliminary hearing on 8 April and remains held with bail set at $1.875m (£1.4m). Her defense attorney sought to reduce her bail, but prosecutors noted Ortiz allegedly fired approximately 20 rounds from an AR-style weapon, posing a significant risk to life.
In court, it was revealed that Ortiz allegedly had a wig with her as a disguise, suggesting the crime had been premeditated. The judge has also prohibited Ortiz from practicing as a speech pathologist in California.
Ortiz is facing multiple other charges, including 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper. Each count of assault corresponds to a person Ortiz allegedly shot at, including Rihanna and A$AP Rocky's real names, Robyn Fenty and Rakim Mayers, as well as their children and other family members.
If convicted, she could face a maximum penalty of life in prison.
After the shooting, Ortiz allegedly drove up to the front of Rihanna's home and fled the scene. Her white Tesla was located approximately eight miles away at a shopping center in Sherman Oaks, where she was subsequently arrested.
Neither Ortiz's attorney nor representatives for Rihanna have commented on the situation.
