Four dead and several injured in Ukrainian towns after overnight Russian strike

At least four people have lost their lives and several others injured following a major Russian missile campaign that began overnight in Ukraine.

In the city of Dnipro, four fatalities were confirmed – a seventy‑three‑year‑old woman among them – and five people were wounded. In neighboring Kharkiv, eight civilians sustained injuries and in Kyiv a further four were hurt, local officials reported in the early hours of Tuesday.

The missile strikes launched massive explosions across Kyiv. Large plumes of smoke rose from the city centre as the Ukrainian air‑defence forces scrambled to intercept the attacks. "Explosions in the city. Air defence forces are working! Stay in shelters!" Mayor Vitali Klitschko warned residents on his social media page. Kyiv's City Military Administration head Tymur Tkachenko called the attacks "ballistic missiles" and urged people to take precautions.

Klitschko reported that two high‑rise apartment buildings had been struck, raising concerns over trapped civilians under rubble. Local police and rescue teams are on standby to provide aid.

Earlier this week, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reminded the nation of a possible large‑scale Russian assault. In his nightly address he urged citizens to pay close attention to air‑raid alerts, saying that intelligence warnings remained in effect.
