Lebanese state media report that an Israeli air strike on the southern Beirut suburb of Dahieh has killed three people and injured 15 others. The IDF said it targeted a Hezbollah command centre in the area, a move they justified as retaliation for recent aerial attacks by the Iran‑backed group.
Images released show extensive damage around the building hit, underscoring the severity of the attack. The incident comes as the United States plans to finalise a pending diplomatic deal with Iran, a process that senior Iranian officials say could be disrupted by additional violence.
US President Trump expressed concern that the attack could derail peace talks with Iran, stressing that Israel’s actions should not create new conflicts. He called for an end to all attacks in Lebanon, both Israeli and Hezbollah‑led, warning that continued confrontations could threaten regional stability.
Israel maintains that its bombing campaign against Hezbollah is distinct from the broader Iran‑US diplomatic negotiations, and that it will continue its operations in the south of Lebanon. However, if Iran succeeds in linking the two arenas, Israel may face pressure to halt its military activities.
Lebanon’s involvement in the Israeli‑Iranian conflict dates back to March, when Hezbollah rockets struck Israeli territory following an Israeli strike on a top Iranian commander. The ongoing tensions highlight the complex web of alliances and hostilities in the region.
