Trump Ends NBC Interview After 'Rigged Election' Clash with Welker

US President Donald Trump abruptly terminated his NBC interview Sunday after a heated confrontation over his repeated claims that both the 2020 presidential election and California's current primary elections were rigged. The session, filmed amid rain delays at a Wisconsin farming event, saw the president refuse to provide evidence when pressed by host Kristen Welker about ongoing vote counting in California.

When Welker challenged Trump about his assertions, he responded: "All I have to do is look, and I listen," before she pointed out that this was insufficient evidence. Trump then accused the media of being "crooked" and declared: "Sorry, let's call it quits because I've had enough," walking off the set before Welker could continue. This marks another escalation in his ongoing clashes with mainstream news outlets, which he frequently accuses of bias.

The interview covered multiple topics including Iran nuclear policy and Trump's abandoned $1.8 billion 'anti-weaponisation' fund designed to compensate individuals falsely accused of wrongdoing. Trump insisted the Iran threat was largely resolved and dismissed concerns about the controversial fund, which drew sharp criticism from both parties. Yet the election claims dominated the discussion, with Trump repeatedly claiming California results were "cheating" despite full vote counts remaining incomplete due to the state's meticulous process.

Following the broadcast, Welker confirmed they had agreed to another interview, acknowledging: "We both acknowledged the complications during the interview posed by the rain." White House officials declined to comment, though the incident reflects deepening mistrust between the administration and traditional media. The president's refusal to address election integrity claims with documented evidence has fueled ongoing concerns about democratic processes in the United States.
