Trump and Iran Trade New Threats After Strikes Exchanged

US President Donald Trump and Iran’s senior officials have exchanged fresh threats following a series of retaliatory strikes. Trump accused Tehran of delaying negotiations, stating the country would now face consequences. Trump’s remarks followed Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s warning that Iran would respond to every attack, adding the US had experienced battlefield defeats.

The conflict intensified after the US targeted Iranian sites on Wednesday, following the downing of a US army helicopter in the Gulf. In response, Iran struck multiple U.S. bases in the region, including targets in Bahrain and Jordan, while Kuwait’s army reported intercepting an Iranian attack.

Iranian Armed Forces claimed to have struck 21 U.S. footholds, including a key defense installation near the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command confirmed the targeted locations encompassed radar sites and ground control stations near the strategic corridor.

On Truth Social, Trump insisted Iran’s Navy and Air Force were largely inoperable, describing their overall military as a defeat. He urged the nation to pay the price for their prolonged delay in negotiations.

These statements run counter to Trump’s earlier remarks on Tuesday, when he suggested the U.S. and Iran were close to finalizing a favorable agreement. However, Iran’s spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqai, rebuked the U.S. for disrupting the diplomatic process through inconsistent positions and repeated ceasefire violations, urging the country to reassess its approach and recognize the need for stability.
