Katie Zacharia, a conservative commentator and former Communications Adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, has been confirmed as the White House press secretary. This makes her the president’s sixth chief spokesperson across his two administrations.
Her appointment comes just after former press secretary Karoline Leavitt left the White House to join Fox News. Zacharia’s background also includes a brief stint as a spokesperson at the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year.
As press secretary, she will oversee the Office of the White House Press Secretary, coordinate the president’s media strategy, and serve as the primary liaison between the administration and the press.
Her role will involve managing the influx of inquiries and requests that come through the office every day, and balancing the administration’s messaging with media scrutiny.
