UNION, N.J. — In a devastating incident on Saturday night, one person was fatally shot and six others sustained injuries during a mass shooting at a Chick-fil-A restaurant in Union, New Jersey. The shooting occurred around 9 p.m., and local police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the event.

According to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators suggest that the shooting was not a random act. As of now, no arrests have been made; however, authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat. The injuries sustained by the victims are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses reported hearing more than seven shots fired as a rideshare driver approached the scene. New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill took to social media to express her condolences, stating, 'Our hearts go out to the victim’s loved ones, and we are hoping for the full recovery of those who were injured.' She also encouraged people with information about the incident to contact the authorities.
